FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

POWDER BROWS

HOW LONG DO POWDER BROWS LAST?

Powder Brows can last anywhere between 1 year to 18 months. It depends on your lifestyle, your skin type, your skin care regime etc.

HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED?

You will need two sessions. Your first session and your six-week-touch-up. Your touch-up is very important, this is the 'perfection session'. Your powder brows will fade faster if you don't come for your touch-up and we won't achieve optimal results.

WILL I NEED A YEARLY TOUCH-UP/COLOUR BOOST?

Yes, in order to maintain your colour and shape you will need an annual touch-up.

WHAT IS A COLOUR BOOST?

A colour boost is a yearly touch-up. This session is vital if you want to maintain your results. I will however only do a colour boost if you need one. If your brows are still looking good and they haven't faded or lost any warmth, a colour boost won't be required. Typically most people will require an annual touch-up due to our lifestyle choices and sun exposure.

AM I A CANDIDATE FOR POWDER BROWS?

If you don't have any contraindications, the answer is YES! This is an amazing technique suited for most skin types. Powder brows ages beautifully and this technique can cover old work done elsewhere.

CAN POWDER BROWS CHANGE THE COLOUR OF MY ASHY/RED BROWS?

The answer is yes. If your old work is light enough, but over the years they have turned red, purple, blue or ashy, we can colour correct them. Kindly note that some colour corrections are very tricky and I can't always guarantee success. Kindly book a consultation first.

CAN POWDER BROWS COVER OLD WORK DONE ELSEWHERE?

If your old work is light enough and the shape is good, then yes it can absolutely! If your brows are oversaturated, we unfortunately can't immediately cover the old work with this technique. Why? The skin can only hold a certain amount of ink, if there is already to much ink in the skin, the skin won't be able to hold any more ink. The solution? If your shape is good, I would recommend a session or two of saline removal to lift some of the old ink. Once the pigment is light enough we can attempt powder brows. It will only be a temporary solution if we cover an oversaturated brow. Like I mentioned before, the skin can only hold so much ink.

HOW LONG IS THE PROCEDURE?

Mapping takes about an hour and the procedure itself (including numbing) takes about an hour and a half to two hours. Kindly be patient on the day and book out at least three hours of your day as this is a delicate procedure and it can't be rushed. If you are rushed, I will feel rushed.

WHAT ARE THE CONTRAINDICATIONS?

-Pregnant/breastfeeding

-Diabetic (If unsure, kindly consult your physician)

-Undergoing Chemo

CAN I GET PMU IF I HAVE ANY MEDICAL CONDITIONS?

Kindly let me know if you have ANY medical conditions. I am a Permanent Makeup Artist and not a Doctor so I can't give you any medical advise. Kindly seek advice from your physician and bring a long a doctor's note to your appointment.

CAN I TINT MY BROWS BEFORE THE PROCEDURE?

Please do not tint your brows before the procedure. I won't be able to see your the natural colour of your hair and thus won't be able to match the pigment colour accordingly.

IS THIS PROCEDURE PAINFUL?

The procedure is not painful, my business is registered with a compounding pharmacy and their numbing agents are excellent. Some of my clients fall asleep.

The law around numbing has changed, so kindly note that you have to order and purchase your own numbing agents.

The process:

Fill out this online Patient Care Checklist – https://compoundingpharmacy.com.au/topical-anaesthetic-patient-care-checklist/

-This form gives the compounding pharmacy all the information that they need from their side to safely dispense the product. It provides them information on the date and place you are having their procedure, which tells them which clinic to send it to and by when. They have now integrated the payment page and patient care checklist to avoid any possible delays getting the product to my salon in time for the appointment.

-This form is screened by their pharmacist to ensure the product is suitable and safe to use without any adverse reactions. You may be contacted at this point if they are concerned.

-They will send the product directly to my salon before your procedure date, which you put in the checklist information.

You will receive two numbing agents, a Pre-procedure cream and a During procedure gel that works on broken skin and that will keep you numb throughout the procedure.

HOW CAN I PREPARE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

-Avoid Alcohol, Aspirin and Ibuprofen at least 48 hours prior to you appointment.

-Do not discontinue any medication before consulting your doctor.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT ON THE DAY OF MY INITIAL PROCEDURE?

On entrance you will be required to sanitize your hands and to fill in a mandatory consultation form.

I will then clean your brows and wipe them with an alcohol pad. After that I will pre-numb your brows for 15-20 minutes. After you have been numb I will start mapping your brows. We will only start with the procedure once you have approved the shape I have mapped out for you. I will then start outlining your brows. After I have outlined the brows, I will attempt a light first pass and rub in a secondary anesthetic. I usually do three passes on each brow.

Your brows will be dark and bold directly after the procedure, please do not let this scare you. They will fade by 60%.
